Role description
The Technical Product Manager for Application & Discovery Platform owns the product direction for the platform layer that connects Experimentation to the teams and areas across the company that use its capabilities. This includes the capabilities that make Experimentation discoverable, accessible, and usable by both humans and agents: GraphQL federation, MCP server capabilities, search and discovery experiences, notifications, and the UI shell.
This role focuses on how Experimentation capabilities are exposed, consumed, and orchestrated across interfaces and systems. The Technical Product Manager works closely with engineering, design, analytics, and stakeholder teams to ensure the platform enables reliable integration patterns, intuitive discovery, and responsive, event-driven experiences.
The person in this role is a technical product manager with a strong understanding of platform product management and solid experimentation knowledge. They should be able to engage credibly with data and engineering professionals, and translate their needs into product direction and priorities. They operate effectively at the intersection of product strategy, APIs, system design, developer experience, and experimentation workflows.
They are highly customer-focused and develop a deep understanding of end-user needs, pain points, and workflows. They use that understanding to prioritise effectively, shape a roadmap that improves internal usability and ecosystem leverage, and drive adoption across the teams that rely on Experimentation capabilities.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Defines the product strategy for Application & Discovery Platform in line with the wider Experimentation track strategy.
Identifies the highest-value platform opportunities that improve discoverability, interoperability, and ease of consumption for Experimentation capabilities.
Clarifies where the team should invest across interface layers such as APIs, agent-facing protocols, search, notifications, and shell experiences.
Frames trade-offs between flexibility, standardisation, speed, and long-term platform health.
Ensures the team is solving real user and system problems, not just shipping technical components.
Drives strong collaboration and alignment across a geographically distributed setup, with many key Experimentation stakeholders based in Amsterdam and the team based in India.
Creates clear ways of working, communication rhythms, and decision-making practices that enable effective cross-functional and cross-location collaboration.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Technical Product Manager role; technical or platform product management experience is a strong plus.
Ability to define and drive a clear product vision, and translate that vision into priorities and roadmap decisions.
Solid experimentation knowledge, with the ability to communicate effectively with statisticians, analysts, engineers, and other data professionals.
Strong customer focus, with the ability to understand user needs, prioritise accordingly, and drive adoption.
Experience working on APIs, platform interfaces, or other integration-heavy systems.
Strong collaboration and alignment skills, especially in distributed setups across teams and locations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
We’re a truly global e-commerce company, with business operations in nearly every country and city on the planet. And we want to make it easy for everyone, anywhere in the world, to pay for their travel or do business with our platform - whenever and however it’s convenient for them.
