1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using HireJack ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

HireJack is a job market intelligence platform that aggregates publicly available job listing data from company career pages and Applicant Tracking Systems. We provide analytics, search, and comparison tools to help job seekers and researchers understand hiring trends in the technology sector.

3. User Accounts

You may create an account to access personalized features such as saved jobs and recommendations. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as necessary.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the Service
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls
• Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit the aggregated data
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure

5. Job Listing Data

Job listings displayed on HireJack are sourced from publicly accessible career pages and ATS APIs. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any listing. Always verify details on the employer's official career page before applying. HireJack is not a recruiter, employer, or staffing agency.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service's design, code, analytics methodologies, and aggregated datasets are proprietary. Job listing content belongs to the respective employers. Our taxonomy, skill dictionaries, and data enrichment layers are original works.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HireJack shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to reliance on job listing data, salary information, or hiring trend analyses.

9. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

1. Information We Collect

Account data: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never store plaintext passwords).

Profile data: You may optionally provide your skills, desired roles, location preferences, headline, and resume. This data is used solely to power job recommendations and is never sold or shared.

Usage data: We collect anonymous pageview events (page URL, timestamp, referrer, user agent) for traffic analytics. These are automatically deleted after 90 days.

Feedback: If you submit feedback through our form, we store your message, category, email (if provided), and submission timestamp.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Account & profile data: To authenticate you, personalize your experience, and generate job recommendations
• Usage data: To understand traffic patterns and improve the Service
• Email: To send password reset links and (if opted in) notification emails. We never send marketing emails.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in AWS DynamoDB (encrypted at rest) in the US East (Ohio) region. Resumes are stored in a private S3 bucket accessible only via signed URLs. All traffic is served over HTTPS via CloudFront.

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (10 rounds). Authentication uses signed JWT tokens in httpOnly, Secure, SameSite cookies.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking pixels. Our analytics are entirely self-hosted.

5. Cookies

We use a single authentication cookie (hj_token) to maintain your login session. It is httpOnly (not accessible to JavaScript), Secure (HTTPS only), and expires after 7 days. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookies.

6. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account
• Usage analytics: Auto-deleted after 90 days (TTL)
• Feedback: Retained for 1 year

7. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us through the feedback form. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will update this page when our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
