The Government Affairs team monitors, analyzes, and advocates on the legislative and regulatory issues that shape Spotify's business across the 180+ markets where our service is available. We help identify emerging policy developments, develop strategies that support Spotify's mission, and work across the business to navigate an evolving global policy landscape.

Governments around the world are updating rules that impact the digital economy, including streaming services. Topics such as copyright, performer remuneration, content regulation, online safety, competition, digital taxation, cultural policy, and algorithmic responsibility continue to evolve and are increasingly interconnected. In this role, you'll help our global team understand these developments and contribute to thoughtful, coordinated policy strategies that support Spotify's business and users worldwide.

What You'll Do

  • Draft briefing papers, consultation responses, and other policy materials for audiences across multiple regions.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting Spotify's business, with a focus on content regulation, competition, and online safety.
  • Support the preparation of policy submissions and advocacy materials under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Partner with colleagues across Government Affairs and the wider business to communicate emerging policy developments and their potential impact.
  • Help develop consistent global public policy positions and strategies that advance Spotify's priorities across international markets.
  • Coordinate multiple legislative and regulatory workstreams, managing timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables across policy areas.
  • Contribute research and analysis that informs policy decisions and supports strategic engagement with external stakeholders.

Who You Are

  • You have a university degree in public policy, international relations, law, or a related field.
  • You have 5+ years of experience supporting public policy, legislative affairs, regulatory affairs, or government relations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • You have an understanding of technology, digital platform, media, or music policy issues.
  • You know how to quickly assess legislative and regulatory proposals and identify potential business implications across different markets.
  • You are comfortable working with machine-translated or imperfectly translated materials. Additional language skills are a plus.
  • You have experience working across functions to bring together diverse perspectives and help develop clear policy positions.
  • You are proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can evolve quickly.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently, with excellent writing, analytical, and presentation skills, including drafting policy papers and formal submissions.
  • You are highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities while coordinating work across stakeholders and policy areas.

Where You'll Be

  • This role can be based in Washington, DC or London, United Kingdom.
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come in at least 3 times per week.
The United States base range for this position is $107,448–153,498 USD, plus equity.
