Job description

from Ro careers
Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company with a mission of helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. Ro is the only company to offer nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. This is enabled by Ro's vertically integrated platform that helps patients achieve their goals through a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience spanning from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has helped millions of patients in nearly every single county in the United States, including 99% of primary care deserts.

Ro is consistently recognized as a top workplace in Health Care, in New York, and for Women and Parents—earning more than 20 honors from Fortune, Great Place to Work, and PEOPLE since 2021. In 2025 alone, we ranked top 5 among medium workplaces in Health Care and New York, and top 50 nationwide.

The Senior Associate of Consumer Communications will play a central role in driving earned storytelling initiatives that build the Ro brand and highlight Ro’s award-winning products,  services and patient ambassadors. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, this individual will be part of a broader cross-functional effort, partnering daily with teams across Comms, Growth, Brand, Clinical, and external agency partners.

This individual will own key storytelling pillars — including patient storytelling, expert commentary, and data-driven insights — and help bring Brand/Marketing campaigns and Company announcements to life through thoughtful, strategic media engagement.

The ideal candidate is energized by working with media, has a strong pulse on consumer trends across traditional and social platforms, and can think critically about how each storytelling opportunity connects back to Ro’s products, services, and long-term goals.

Our dream candidate is passionate about Ro’s mission to help as many patients as possible achieve their health goals. They are an organized operator with strong project management skills who can independently move initiatives forward while keeping stakeholders aligned. They are comfortable digging into data and reporting platforms to quantify impact and bring forward insights. They have a writing voice that makes complex healthcare topics digestible and compelling to consumer audiences. They are not afraid to take ownership of projects and identify new opportunities that elevate the team’s work.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the development of media pitches centered around Ro’s products, services, patient stories, and expert commentary

  • Proactively identify timely storytelling opportunities across consumer health, culture, and media trends and map to strategic media targets

  • Translate clinical research, surveys, and proprietary data into compelling earned media narratives

  • Support and help coordinate with comms team on communications planning and execution for product launches, partnerships, and key campaigns

  • Draft backgrounders, talking points, and media briefs for spokesperson interviews and announcements

  • Partner with subject-matter experts, medical advisors, and patient ambassadors to shape digestible expert commentary and prepare them for media opportunities

  • Coordinate and manage reporter product trials to support earned storytelling opportunities and strengthen media relationships

  • Collaborate closely with Ro’s PR consultants to execute outreach and manage deliverables

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure consumer PR efforts align with company priorities and timelines

  • Track and report on earned media performance, including monitoring affiliate and analytics platforms

  • Maintain media lists, coverage trackers, and key planning documents to ensure operational rigor

  • Keep close tabs on product updates and timelines across Ro’s various product offerings

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in consumer communications, supporting earned media initiatives in-house or at a PR agency

  • Experience leading execution of earned campaigns and securing media coverage

  • A keen interest in consumer trends and a strong sense of how to position healthcare, wellness and lifestyle topics within cultural conversations

  • Ability to make complex healthcare topics accessible and engaging

  • Experience working with subject-matter experts or executive spokespeople

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to galvanize stakeholders across the company

  • Experience utilizing reporting tools such as Impact, Mixpanel, or similar platforms

  • Experience in healthcare or highly regulated industries preferred

We welcome qualified candidates of all races, creeds, genders, and sexuality to apply.

The target base salary for this position ranges from $91,800 to $111,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
