Position Overview
We are hiring an Engineering Manager – Data & Services to lead a team of software engineers responsible for building and operating backend services and APIs that support Autodesk’s enterprise data and platform capabilities. This role is intended for a people-focused engineering leader with a strong foundation in backend software engineering, APIs, and service-oriented architectures, who can effectively manage delivery, execution, and collaboration across product and engineering partners.
As an Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility is to lead and enable the team—through clear direction, strong execution, and continuous coaching—while staying sufficiently hands-on to guide technical decisions, review designs, and support production operations. This role requires comfort operating in ambiguity, balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical and organizational health. Familiarity with data engineering concepts is beneficial, and the manager should be willing to engage in limited hands-on data or backend work when necessary.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of backend software engineers, fostering strong engineering culture, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Own people management responsibilities including hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and engagement.
Run day-to-day agile execution for the team, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, capacity planning, delivery tracking, and retrospectives.
