Are you passionate about transforming financial data into strategic insights that drive business decisions? Amazon's Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team is seeking a Financial Analyst II to support our Transportation Technology and Services organizations. In this role, you'll have exceptional visibility with leadership and meaningful influence in the decision-making process. You'll translate complex financial data into actionable business insights while partnering with stakeholders to identify growth opportunities and optimize resource allocation.

Your analytical expertise will directly impact operational excellence and drive continuous improvement across our financial processes. This is an opportunity to work on strategic planning and reporting for operational expenditures, technology entitlements, and headcount planning while serving as a data-driven financial partner who guides decision-making across all levels of the organization.

Key job responsibilities
- Own financial planning and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy through proactive audits and diving deep to identify root causes of discrepancies, and implementing solutions to resolve finance issues
- Analyze complex datasets and build financial reports to address business questions, providing clear findings and recommendations that influence data-driven decision making at the senior leadership level
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on financial reporting standards, develop improved control mechanisms, and implement process improvements that scale controllership with measurable results
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate financial metrics into actionable insights that support operational performance, resource allocation decisions, and strategic planning initiatives
- Mentor team members on financial processes and best practices while building and maintaining team tools and documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration

A day in the life
Your day begins with reviewing key financial metrics and preparing for a meeting with business stakeholders to discuss operational performance and planning needs. Throughout the day, you'll work on in-depth analyses to address specific business questions, collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on financial reporting standards, and develop improved control mechanisms. You'll participate in strategic planning sessions where your financial insights help shape business decisions, and spend time mentoring team members on financial processes and best practices.

About the team
We are the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team supporting the Transportation Technology and Services organizations. Our team owns central reporting, planning and goals for the organization, including operational expenditures, technology entitlements, and headcount planning. We serve as strategic financial partners, providing data-driven insights that guide decision-making across all levels of the organization.

Our team fosters a collaborative environment where continuous learning and knowledge sharing are encouraged. We're focused on building scalable financial processes and innovative solutions that enable our business partners to make informed decisions quickly and confidently.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 3+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
- 3+ years of contributing to cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
- Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
