Job description

from Amazon careers
The Japan Prime & Marketing organization is seeking a Senior Manager, Product Management - Technical to own the product vision, roadmap, and end-to-end customer experiences for Amazon Points and external Points partnerships in Japan. Points is a cornerstone of customer loyalty and engagement in Japan, where points-based rewards are deeply embedded in shopping behavior and competitive differentiation.

In this role, you will lead a team of product managers and marketing managers, partner closely with engineering, science, marketing, finance, legal, and business development to build the partnership programs and platform capabilities that let customers earn and redeem points across Amazon and a growing network of external partners. You will define how points partnerships create win-win-win outcomes for customers, partners, and Amazon, balancing customer delight with program economics and long-term retention.

This is a high-visibility leadership role at the intersection of loyalty, partnerships, technology, and customer experience, with direct exposure to Japan country leadership. The ideal candidate is a seasoned people leader and technical product owner who has built loyalty, rewards, payments, or partnership programs at scale and can navigate the unique dynamics of the Japanese market.

Key job responsibilities
Own the multi-year product vision and roadmap for Amazon Points partnerships in Japan, aligned with the broader Prime, marketing, and customer growth strategy

Prioritize the highest-impact partnership and platform investments across points earning, redemption, co-branded experiences, and partner integrations

Own the customer experiences for how members earn and redeem points across Amazon surfaces and external partners, ensuring seamless and trustworthy journeys

Partner with business development to evaluate, structure, and launch new partnerships, translating commercial agreements into scalable product requirements

Guide technical architecture decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of points issuance, redemption, and settlement systems, while meeting data, security, and compliance requirements
Build, lead, and develop a team of product managers, serving as the single-threaded owner coordinating across engineering, science, marketing, finance, and legal

Define and track program metrics including engagement, redemption rates, incremental purchases, partner growth, and retention, and deliver executive-level reporting

Represent the product and tech organization in executive forums and collaborate with global teams to leverage shared platforms and best practices

A day in the life
You begin the day reviewing points engagement and redemption dashboards, scanning for signals in how customers interact with a recently launched partner integration. You move into a roadmap review with engineering to align on the next phase of the points settlement platform, then join a working session with business development and finance to model the economics of a prospective co-branded partnership. In the afternoon, you coach a product manager on a PR/FAQ for a new redemption experience, then present a partnership strategy to Director and VP-level stakeholders, grounding recommendations in customer data and competitive benchmarking. Your customers are the millions of Japanese shoppers who earn and redeem points every day, and the partners who depend on a reliable, compelling program.
