Job description

from Amazon careers
Come build the future of high performance storage with Amazon S3 Express, the storage class purpose built to co-locate storage with compute and deliver consistent single digit millisecond data access. Launched at re:Invent 2023, it is designed for the most demanding, performance sensitive workloads, and we are still in the earliest innings. As AI training, inference, and agentic workloads reshape what applications demand from storage, this is where the hardest problems get solved.

As a Principal PMT, you will own product strategy for a service operating at the frontier of performance. The AI space is moving fast, the requirements are ambiguous, and the technical challenges are hard. Defining what the product becomes, from first principles, is the core of this role. You will drive an agentic storage strategy that confronts the inference memory wall and the explosion of context windows, shifting workloads away from compute heavy architectures and toward layered caching fabrics. You will shape a portfolio of storage products built for AI model training and inference, anchoring general purpose solutions around ultra low latency and POSIX compliant workloads while extending the high bandwidth object storage that S3 Express delivers. You will also focus on accelerator utilization across GPU, Trainium, and Inferentia deployments, provisioning high performance zonal storage with the goal of a full accelerator attach rate.

You will spend your time in product definition, navigating ambiguity, solving deep technical problems, and building the storage foundation that future workloads will depend on. You will thrive here if you love technology, can reason about complex distributed systems, and enjoy working shoulder to shoulder with engineering teams. You bring a strong ownership bias, a persistent drive to make things better, and you are comfortable facilitating executive reviews, diving deep into data, and expressing ideas clearly through writing.

A defining part of this role is who you work with. You will partner with industry leaders across the AI space and teams throughout AWS to solve horizontal high performance computing problems.

(Principal PMT / Principal PMT-ES)

In this role you will

- Develop crisp business requirements and user stories through direct contact with customers and partners at the leading edge of AI and high performance computing
- Define product strategy and roadmap, translating ambiguous, fast moving requirements into a clear path forward
- Solve the storage challenges of AI training and inference, from the inference memory wall to accelerator utilization, by shaping layered caching and high performance zonal storage
- Collaborate with product managers, software development managers, and engineers to define, build, and roll out features
- Bring services and features to market, including beta programs, product marketing, and industry analyst engagement
- Present solutions and the roadmap to customers at conferences and executive briefings
- Partner with industry leaders in AI and teams across AWS to solve horizontal high performance computing challenges, and with the leadership team to set strategy for S3 Express One Zone
