The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), which is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. Within WWSO, this position is part of the Worldwide Specialist Team, where you will lead a team of specialist solutions architects for the DATA and AI GTM team in Japan. Your team will help customers migrate their on-premises commercial, and open-source data systems to the AWS cloud while providing a secure, reliable, cost-effective and scalable infrastructure for customers to innovate and unlock new potential. Your team will also provide high touch engagements for growing and nurturing the top database and analytics customers to support their transformation and modernization journey in AWS. Your team will architect and guide customers in building a trusted, scalable data foundation to accelerate their GenAI and Agentic AI innovations — enabling autonomous, data-driven workflows that deliver measurable business outcomes, while ensuring every solution is designed for performance, cost efficiency, and security. You partner with technical and business teams across AWS and bring the voice of the customer into our product development roadmap.



Key job responsibilities
Hire and develop a team of Specialist Solutions Architects for the databases and analytics domain.

Provide deep technical mentorship in connecting Data with AI — including data modernization using AI-powered tools, establishing data foundations for AI readiness, data platform integration for GenAI and Agentic AI deployments, and vector database design at scale

In partnership with the sales and business development teams, formulate and execute a strategy to drive successful customer outcomes

Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.

Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.

Collaborate with AWS Product and Technical teams to create solutions that solve customer problems, including reference architectures, patterns, automation, and blogs.

Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts.

Capture, share and scale best-practice knowledge amongst customers, and the AWS solutions architect community

Step into a Specialist Solutions Architect role when required to support our customer base.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of management of technical, enterprise customer facing resources or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of in design/implementation/operations/consulting with distributed applications experience
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.
- AWS Associate level certification
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
