As part of AFT AI, we are on a mission to build a new generation of dynamic end-to-end agentic solutions for our warehouses. These models will be able to understand and make use of petabytes of human-centered as well as process information from our warehouse systems and robotic work cells, and learn to perceive and act to further improve our world-class customer experience – at Amazon scale. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who will lead the engineering effort. This includes developing the infrastructure to support AI research and development at scale, and the production systems that allow our agentic solutions to operate across a wide spectrum of processes within Fulfillment Technology and Robotics. Together, we will be pushing beyond the state of the art GenAI to automate one of the most complex systems in the world: Amazon's Fulfillment Network.

Key job responsibilities
* Design and Develop infrastructure for evaluation and benchmarking of agentic AI model that impact the entire fulfillment network.
* Design and Develop end-to-end training and inference pipelines to accelerate agentic AI model development while optimizing GPU usage.
* Transform experimental AI artifacts from research into scalable systems by incorporating robust architectural components and engineering best practices.
* Lead and mentor a junior engineers through coaching and technical guidance.
* Own the technical architecture and define patterns and strategies where none exist.
* Work closely with scientists, product managers, technical program managers, and other stakeholders to deliver the right business outcome

About the team
The AFT AI team has deep expertise developing AI solutions at scale and successfully applying them to business problems in the Amazon Fulfillment Network. These solutions typically utilize machine learning, computer vision and GenAI techniques, applied to text, sequences of events, images or video from existing or new hardware.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
