Product Quality Manager (PQM) The Product Quality Manager (PQM) at Ring focuses on executing quality management processes, working with stakeholders, contract manufacturers (CMs), and component suppliers to ensure quality device manufacturing. They engage early in the product development lifecycle—shifting left to partner with engineering teams from the concept phase—to proactively identify risks and influence design decisions that impact product quality and customer experience. They regularly collaborate with the Sustaining Product Integrity (SPI) team to monitor field performance and work with Contract Manufacturers to improve customer satisfaction. Their key responsibilities span from project initiation through production. During development, they manage CM qualification, conduct NUD (New, Unique, Difficult) analyses to assess quality, customer experience, and safety risks associated with novel designs and technologies, define Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters, and perform systematic risk identification and mitigation through DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and risk tracer mechanisms that consolidate design, process, safety, compliance, and supplier risks. They implement quality practices like Out of Box Audit (OBA) and lessons learned, and leverage AI-powered tools to generate risk summaries, automate issue documentation, and enhance the accuracy and speed of quality assessments at both CM and supplier levels.
