About the Team

It's fun to work in a company where people truly believe in what they're doing. At Workday, we're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business of enterprise applications. We work hard, and we're serious about what we do. But we like to have a good time, too. In fact, we run our company with that principle in mind every day: One of our core values is fun.

About the Role

Workday is looking for an experienced and driven Sr. Express Sourcing Manager to lead and mentor a team of sourcing specialists (with a software and technology focus) within our fast-paced procurement organization. In this dual role, you will combine strong leadership skills with hands-on sourcing expertise. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of Express Sourcing Specialists while also contributing individually to the execution of high-volume, low-to-medium dollar sourcing projects.  The ideal candidate is a highly organized individual with a proven track record in procurement, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing talent.

About You

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of Express Sourcing Specialists, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing

  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor progress, and ensure team members meet performance expectations (Individual Contribution Goals and SLAs)

  • Identify training and development needs for team members and facilitate their professional growth

  • Contribute to the recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

Individual Contributor Responsibilities:

  • Execute sourcing projects in alignment with category-level strategies and established processes

  • Support the creation, review, and negotiation of contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions

  • Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, service level agreements, and other key commercial and legal terms to maximize savings and achieve defined goals

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential supplier-related risks

  • Execute RFQs and bids to identify the best-value suppliers

  • Prioritize the utilization of preferred and existing suppliers whenever possible

  • Meet or exceed service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for project completion and efficiency

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in procurement systems

Critical Skills:

  • Contract Knowledge: In-depth understanding of contract terms, conditions, and legal implications

  • Negotiation: Proven ability to effectively negotiate with suppliers, including complex scenarios, to achieve optimal outcomes

  • Program Management: Strong project management skills to oversee multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of procurement professionals

  • Risk Management: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks associated with suppliers and contracts

  • Business & Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, build strong relationships with suppliers, and influence decision-making

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in procurement or sourcing, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or team lead role

  • Proven track record of successfully managing and developing a team.

  • Proficiency in procurement systems and tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong preference for software and technology related sourcing experience

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with e-procurement platforms

  • Familiarity with specific industry regulations

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email
accommodations@workday.com.

Are you being referred to one of our roles? If so, ask your connection at Workday about our Employee Referral process!
