Job Description

Summary of the Role:

As a Facilities Instrumentation and Controls Engineer II, you will be responsible for driving the modernization, digitalization, and continuous improvement of facility systems through advanced instrumentation, automation, and smart technologies. The role focuses on transitioning legacy systems into integrated platforms such as BMS, IoT, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance system visibility, efficiency, and reliability.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of instrumentation and control systems for facility utilities and infrastructure
  • Drive integration of legacy systems into centralized platforms such as BMS, SCADA, and IoT-based monitoring systems
  • Develop smart monitoring, data acquisition, and analytics capabilities to support predictive and data-driven decision-making
  • Support the implementation of AI-driven and digital solutions for system optimization and fault detection
  • Standardize control systems architecture, communication protocols, and data structures across facilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align system upgrades with operational and business requirements
  • Manage and support automation-related projects, including system retrofits, upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

1. System Development & Modernization

  • Evaluate existing instrumentation and control systems and identify opportunities for upgrade or replacement
  • Develop strategies to migrate legacy systems into modern, scalable platforms (BMS, IoT, cloud-based systems)
  • Design and implement improved control architectures and automation strategies

2. Digitalization & Smart Systems Integration

  • Lead integration of IoT devices, smart sensors, and edge technologies for real-time monitoring
  • Develop data acquisition and visualization platforms (dashboards, alarms, analytics tools)
  • Support the implementation of AI/ML-based solutions for predictive maintenance and anomaly detection

3. Automation & Controls Engineering

  • Develop and optimize control logic, sequences, and system interlocks for improved performance
  • Standardize PLC/SCADA/BMS programming practices and documentation
  • Ensure interoperability between different systems and communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, OPC)

4. Project Engineering & Execution

  • Lead or support automation and instrumentation scope for facility upgrade projects
  • Review design documents, specifications, and control philosophies for new and retrofit systems
  • Manage contractors and vendors for controls-related deliverables, ensuring quality and compliance

5. Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze system data to identify inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Develop KPIs and performance metrics for facility systems
  • Drive initiatives that improve energy efficiency, system reliability, and operational visibility

6. Governance, Standards & Cybersecurity

  • Establish and enforce standards for instrumentation, controls, and automation systems
  • Ensure cybersecurity considerations are incorporated in system design and integration
  • Maintain proper documentation of system architecture, data flow, and control strategies

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Atleast 3 years of work experience in automation, controls engineering, or system integration.
  • Industry exposure in Semiconductor or Electronics Manufacturing is highly preferred

Skills and Competency Requirements:

  • Strong background in PLC, SCADA, and/or BMS platforms
  • Experience in IoT, data analytics, or digital transformation projects is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, OPC, MQTT)
  • Systems thinking and innovation mindset
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Project management and stakeholder coordination
  • Adaptability to new technologies (IoT, AI, cloud platforms)
  • Strong documentation and standardization discipline
