As a key member of the Global Manufacturing Engineering Team, the Sr. Manufacturing Engineer position involves conducting Design for Manufacturing (DFM) studies, collaborating with vendors on new die builds, and overseeing critical activities such as simulation reviews, process optimization, die design evaluation, manufacturing progress tracking buyoff inspections and homeline support. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) studies using AutoForm Simulation Software 
  • Create concept processes for parts within cost & quality targets 
  • Collaborate with vendors on new die builds – Review simulation, Die Process, Die Design, Manufacturing, Buyoff & Homeline 
  • Works with materials team on planning for new programs and addressing quality investigations 
  • Works with vendors to ensure all targets, including quality and performance, are achieved prior to die shipping 
  • Manage project schedules, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure all necessary activities are in place to meet deadlines 
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams during product development 
  • Support vendor buyoff or stamping dies and assist with homelining activities 

Requirements

  • Proficient in Design for manufacturing (DFM) Studies including Class A Panels, minimum 5 years experience 
  • Understanding of stamping processes, design & build is required 
  • Understanding of GD&T & BIW assembly processes 
  • Demonstrates leadership, teamwork & communication skills 
  • Knowledge of production & quality control procedures 
  • Strong time management skills 
  • Understands material properties for steel & aluminum, experience with stainless steel preferred 
  • Able to work with multiple teams & establish / maintain supplier relationships & performance 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for vendor buyoff of stamping dies and support home lining activities.
