Job description

This position is responsible for the interpretation of customer specifications, drawings, and power system requirements as they apply to MV – Gas insulated switchgear. Interfaces with field sales, customers, development, manufacturing, order services and materials during order cycle process. This position includes engineering support for quick resolution of questions and issues regarding MV GIS Switchgear manufacturing assembly and test. Design of control schemes, utilizing PLCs and/or relays, to accomplish automated transfer operations. Creation of electrical one line , elevation drawing ,schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD. Design of ground fault protective schemes, including those involving multiple sources. Generation of bills of material, and modification of standard assemblies as required to suit the application. Familiarity with Modbus and TCP/IP communications protocols, and RS-485 and Ethernet interfaces. Exercises judgments within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Detailed knowledge of principles of electrical engineering so able to assess feasibility of design options. Demonstrate a knowledge of industrial standards, quality and safety requirements. Ensures assignments are within design, budget and schedule limitations. Communicates project concerns and suggestions, both verbally and in writing, with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager.
