from Micron careers

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

At Micron, we are undergoing a historic expansion with our new fabrication facility in Boise, ID. As a leader in the semiconductor industry, we build solutions that inspire and transform technology. With plans to invest more than $150 billion globally over the next decade in leading-edge manufacturing, we are looking for passionate people to join our Boise expansion team while working remotely from Taiwan and contribute to the growth and innovation of the semiconductor industry.

As a Metrology Applications Engineer remotely supporting Micron’s newest Fab, you will learn how to use innovative metrology equipment and processes to solve and measure the line health. The goal of this position is to develop measurement techniques and recipes to quantify the performance of wafer fabrication. We need engineers who are passionate about detecting problems and eager to make changes for the better. You will have the opportunity to learn metrology equipment and applications as well as use data analysis skills to visualize and quantify processes.

This position will provide the opportunity for you to collaborate with engineers in process integration, process development, data science, and yield analysis within and of the ID1 facility. You will be responsible to support experimentation, data analysis, and baseline health metrics as well as partnering with others in Technical Development and High Volume Manufacturing domestically and with global teams.

  • Work with new metrology tools and strategies to drive towards earlier or more efficient data collection methods.

  • Recognize, identify, and raise awareness of process anomalies.

  • Build and improve upon techniques and identify new ways to use existing tools in order to quantify relevant process issues.

  • We expect active participation in technical meetings and then synthesize from it new opportunities or novel approaches.

  • Collaborate with the global network to develop best known methods and maintain alignment between sites

  • Develop techniques across various metrology platforms including electron beam systems, optical systems, x-ray methods etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering or science background

  • Basic knowledge of CMOS circuits and characterization methods.

  • Basic knowledge of semiconductor processing.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience using at least one software (JMP, SPOTFIRE, Tableau…etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in Physics or Engineering areas.

  • 2-5 years of experience working in an RDA/Metro, HVM or TD team setting.

  • Good understanding of semiconductor measurement equipment, theories and techniques. Experience with optical, electron beam and XRAY inspection equipment is desired.
