Job Family Definition
Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug networking software. Build high-performance software components including network stacks and advanced tunneling mechanisms such as VPN and IPSec for large-scale cloud environments.
What you’ll do:
Design and implement networking features based on product objectives and architecture guidelines.
Analyze system requirements and define coding, integration, and validation activities.
Troubleshoot complex networking issues across distributed cloud deployments.
Work directly with customers to investigate current issues and drive resolution.
Collaborate with multiple HPE teams to develop, integrate, and optimize networking protocols and platform components.
Contribute to performance tuning, reliability improvements, and production readiness of data plane services.
What you need to bring:
Experience and Education
BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
5 to 10 years of progressive professional experience building high-performance networking software.
Technical Mastery
Strong proficiency in C/C++ or Golang, including complex debugging and low-latency performance optimization in multithreaded systems.
For C++ developers, willingness to transition to Golang.
Systems and Architecture
Proven track record designing and developing carrier-grade data path networking software for large-scale cloud network architectures.
Deep practical knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, including socket programming, memory management, and advanced IPC mechanisms.
Debugging and Tooling
Advanced expertise diagnosing memory, concurrency, and performance issues in large public cloud environments.
Strong packet-level troubleshooting skills using tools such as Wireshark.
Experience with log-based tracing and observability-driven debugging.
Protocol Expertise
Extensive hands-on experience with tunneling protocols such as IPSec and VPN.
Deep working knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols, DNS spoofing.
