We are seeking a Senior Principal Architect (Architect, Systems Engineering) for the Global Sales organization.  Systems engineering is about building the future. What You’ll Do

  • Senior Principal Architect is a highly technical resource responsible for working with or without Sales early in the process to articulate the overall value of HPE Networking ‘s AI/ML Infrastructure, Datacenter, and WAN Networking Solutions and strategy.
  • Advise Sales Engineers and partners on the recommended technical approach and solution.
  • Responsible for the architecture of end-to-end Networking Infrastructure solutions with deep technical expertise in all aspects of networking. Drive Network architecture and designs to ensure customers' business and technical requirements are met.
  • In a complex Networking Infrastructure deal, the Senior Principal Architect will be responsible for the end-to-end technical solution & customizations orchestrating other Specialists and Technical resources and including Systems Engineers as well as Product Management.
  • As a Senior Principal Architect, you will review and provide insights based on HW and SW technical configurations for the solution addressing the customer requirements and ensuring successful project implementation.
  • Develop deep partnerships with Integrators, and other key partners to design solutions to solve emerging and complex problems for customers across Industries, workloads.
  • Architect and design Hyperscale Network Solutions that deliver against customers' requirements and business challenges.
  • Excel in delivering Demos and Proof of Concept on solutions as well as clearly articulating the value proposition aligned to customer use case.
  • Translate customer business and functional objectives to technical solution requirements.
  • Shape/customize solutions across the entire company portfolio (products, services, solutions) with necessary third-party components and offered as either CAPEX or SaaS, and IaaS. Close alignment with product management.
  • Work with Sales to articulate technical value, present solutions, and overcome customer objections.
  • Build relationships with senior resources and technical decision makers with key customers
  • Ensure smooth knowledge transfer and hand-over to the delivery team.
  • Sizing, design, configuration, and pricing of technical solutions, using sizing and industry best practices.

What You Need To Bring

  • Advanced degree in technology or related field preferred, or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • 12+ years of technical experience in Network Infrastructure Design with a focus on technical consulting and solutions selling.
  • 5+ Industry standard relevant technology certifications or equivalent experience expected.
  • Hyperscale Network architecture frameworks and project management methodologies and certifications are desirable.
  • Working knowledge of hands-on with JunOS, EOS, IOS – certifications preferred.
  • Strong resource management skills, including how and when to effectively engage SMEs/specialists/Engineering resources.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple Networking products, solutions, tools, or services aligned to respective job responsibility.
  • Ability to design and develop a playbook for demonstrations or walkthroughs of products, solutions, tools, or services.
  • Ability to deliver live demonstrations or walkthroughs of products, solutions, tools, or services to customers, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Unique mastery of partner offerings and how/when to leverage them for deals within an area of specialization.
  • Professional with strong business acumen and general management guidance abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships with technical decision makers and C-level executives in client organizations.
  • Experience preparing RFP/Tender response documents like compliance to the RFP, bill of materials, commercial/pricing, and solution documents to drive a successful response.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive experience working in a pre-sales role selling networking equipment and/or solutions.
  • Ability to communicate, both oral and written, on complex technical and sales issues to a variety of audiences, including executive-level technical decision-makers.
  • Ability to make and communicate relevant connections between proposed technical solutions and customers' business requirements.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of how to build successful relationships between an equipment manufacturer and large customers or partners.
  • 12+ years relevant industry experience in Cloud/AI Networking Infrastructure, routing and switching domains. The candidate should have experience in multiple of the following technical domains:
    • Expert level hands-on design and architecture leadership of GPU/AI cluster networking, including lossless Ethernet fabrics (RoCEv2, PFC, ECN, DCQCN), InfiniBand, and InfiniBand-to-Ethernet interoperability for high-performance compute environments.
    • Hands-on experience and architectural leadership in AI Data Center fabric design, including 400G/800G interconnects, non-blocking leaf-spine and rail-optimized topologies, and congestion control tuning for distributed AI/ML training workloads.
    • Hands-on expertise and architectural leadership with AIOps and AI-driven network operations platforms such as Mist AI, Marvis, and Apstra, including intent-based networking, anomaly detection, predictive insights, and closed-loop automation.
    • Deep hands-on design and architecture experience scaling LLM and GenAI training cluster infrastructure, including collective communication patterns (NCCL, RCCL), GPU-to-GPU east-west traffic optimization, and high-throughput storage networking for AI workloads.
    • Working knowledge of NVIDIA reference architectures (DGX SuperPOD, Spectrum-X), AI Data Center solutions (AI-Optimized Ethernet, QFX/PTX for AI), and competitive AI networking offerings.
    • Expert level and hands-on knowledge of designing large scale IP/MPLS based Access/Metro/Edge and Core networks, MPLS Traffic Engineering.
    • Expert level and hands-on knowledge of designing large scale Datacenters IP Fabrics, EVPN/VXLAN Fabrics, DCI solutions.
    • Expert level and hands-on knowledge of SDN environments including Overlay protocols such as MP-BGP, EVPN and tunneling technologies such as VXLAN, MPLS, SR/SRv6.
    • Knowledge of merchant silicon technologies (Trident, Tomahawk, Jericho, etc.) and competitive positioning.
    • Network Provisioning & Automation (Apstra, Paragon or equivalent competitive products).
    • Network Monitoring and manageability with Netconf/REST APIs, YANG.
    • Underlay leaf & Spine switches, Cisco Nexus switches, or Arista switches.
    • Expert level knowledge about architecture and benefits of ACX, MX, PTX, QFX Series routers or equivalent competitor products.
    • Virtualization technologies on x86 and scaling using technologies such DPDK, SR-IOV, SmartNICs etc.
    • Open Networking switch hardware (white box) and related software (SONiC, Cumulus, BigSwitch etc.).
    • Formal or informal technical sales leadership or mentoring is desired.
