from Google careersAs a member of the Platforms & Devices (P&D) Vendor Management Office (VMO) team, your primary responsibilities will involve the team immersion, analysis-driven insights extraction to provide and execute on strategic recommendations. Furthermore, you will actively engage in the development and execution of high-impact supplier programs, encompassing cost negotiations, supplier performance management, and program transformation.
For this role, we are looking for a professional, experienced, and driven vendor manager to support the P&D Product Area. Your job will require you to be a trusted advisor and build relationships with internal stakeholders to help transform their supplier engagements and drive operational efficiencies.You will have experience in strategic supplier development, cost and agreement negotiations, supplier performance management, engineering extended workforce and other related areas. You will be a high performer who will quickly adapt and respond to changes as well as internal initiatives, and someone who grows in an ever-changing, fast-growing operational environment. You will have an operational savvy, takes initiatives and a ‘get it done’ personality, the ability to make smart, independent decisions and the willingness to manage deliverables across teams and priorities. You must be open to working some night hours (availability to work through early US hours) to collaborate and support our global teams effectively.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to transform a less mature workflow to a mature operation, and implement metrics around quality, cost, and efficiencies.
- Work closely with various internal groups to understand business requirements, implement new processes, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
- Drive economies, enhance operational efficiency, and exercise the operational diligence. Ensure all aspects of vendor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are consistently met.
- Create processes and workflows aimed towards creating efficiencies through centralization of activities.
- Participate and provide thought leadership in operational planning activities in coordination with internal teams. Support vendor selection, negotiations, on-boarding, and overall vendor operations strategy.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in operations or business management, and vendor management.
- 5 years of experience using analytics or applying project management tools to address business issues.
Preferred qualifications:
- Project Management certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, etc.
- Understanding of Operational Expenditure (Opex), budget, and cost saving drivers.
- Ability to envision and create processes of varied complexity levels and have business process expertise.
- Excellent customer-centricity along with structured problem-solving capabilities and exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
