As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Test, validate, improve, and certify new processes and procedures for critical equipment operation for data center domain of expertise.
- Perform compliance activities for a data center and analyze compliance results for data centers globally. Ensure regional and global teams are complying with project/schedule guidelines and Google design standards.
- Monitor data center systems operations, control site activities to minimize risk, and to ensure effective response to any excursions.
- Ensure sites are following facility, maintenance, and standard programs globally while exhibiting strength in improvement to said policies and programs.
- Lead the development of strategies to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact at a site, along with driving site-level development of programs and initiatives.
Minimum qualifications:
- Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9 years of experience working in critical operations for areas such as datacenters, hospitals, power plants, or transmission operations.
- Experience with mechanical/electrical/controls systems used in a data center environment (e.g., BMS, PMS, RTUs, chillers, cooling towers, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems and various monitoring systems/networks).
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs of equipment, and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, holidays, and on shift-based schedules.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced education in a related field.
- Experience working with building management controls systems, network switches, servers, programmable logic controller (PLCs), variable frequency drive (VFDs), and associated equipment.
