Metrology Verification Engineer, Quantum AI
Google · Goleta, CA
Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
As a Quantum Hardware Metrology Engineer, you will solve the team’s integration and interconnect challenges. You will be responsible for productionizing new technologies for delivery and conditioning of high-density microwave electronics signals operating in a cryogenic environment. You will collaborate with other researchers and engineers on the Quantum AI team to develop and productionize cryogenic microwave interconnect technologies to be used in our next generation of quantum computers. You will bring curiosity and engineering intuition to develop the understanding needed to improve superconducting quantum hardware system performance to pave the way for the increasing the number of qubits in accordance with our road map.
The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
