Staff Engineer - UI

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

• Work end-to-end with UX to translate user needs into clear user flows, interaction patterns, and UI specifications.

• Implement those flows using React and modern JavaScript, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and testable UI code.

• Collaborate closely with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs that support intuitive and responsive UIs.

• Partner with UI leads at Cloudera to align on design language, contribute new components and patterns, and ensure a consistent experience across products.

• Define and communicate the frontend/UI vision for the team, including best practices, technical direction, and quality standards.

• Mentor and guide other UI engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pairing sessions.
   

We’re excited about you if you have: 

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience building modern web applications (or equivalent Masters/PhD tenure) with React and JavaScript (or TypeScript).

• Strong understanding of UI architecture, state management, performance optimization, and accessibility.

• Experience working closely with UX to turn early concepts and prototypes into production-ready interfaces.

• A track record of technical leadership on the frontend: setting direction, driving alignment, and helping other engineers grow.

• Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and proactively communicate risks or tradeoffs.
   

You May Also Have:

• Experience with Golang or backend application development, and an interest in collaborating deeply on API design.

• Solid understanding of Kubernetes concepts and cloud-native application delivery, or strong motivation to learn.

• Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system or shared component library.

• Background building UIs for platforms, developer tools, or operational dashboards.
