What You’ll Do:
- Lead program-level calibration approaches and support architecture development for emerging EOIR remote sensing payloads.
- Develop and implement calibration solutions necessary to achieve EO/IR remote sensor performance.
- Analyze optical payload and sub-system data quality requirements and decompose as necessary to enable the related design, build, test, and verification activities.
- Formulate and execute radiometric, spectral, and other calibration strategies to achieve the required mission data quality.
- Develop and utilize expertise in remote sensing missions, payload design, component hardware technologies, calibration sources, calibration techniques, and uncertainty analysis.
- Investigate novel calibration approaches and propose internal or customer funded research and development projects.
- Create and manage physics-based calibration models and budgets.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (systems, optical, mechanical, electrical, software, test, etc.) in the planning and execution of calibration tasks.
- Be a program’s calibration lead and interface and support its chief engineer and chief systems engineer.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
- Mentor other engineers within the company facing related challenges.
