The Platforms & Services (P&S) sector under BAE Systems, Inc does the big stuff: the armored combat vehicles, naval guns, missile launchers, and ship repair…just to name a few. - Receives instructions and work orders from Process Supervisor, Assistant Process Supervisor, Lead Person or Self-Directed Work Team.
- Refers to sources of inspection criteria such as drawings, sketches, inspection procedures, military and commercial specifications, technical handbooks and charts, supplemental quality assurance requirements (e.g. SQAP’s, QAP’s and QAR’s)
- Observes and/or checks for operation and/or completeness of assembly, preservation, packaging or loading and tie down of vehicles, finish including basic dimensions, color, coverage and cleanliness; torque or welds per drawing tolerances. Checks location of parts and subassemblies using measuring instruments or fixtures as required. Observes air pressure checks (e.g. fuel cells), engine and other major subsystems functional test, performs bore sight evaluations, cyclic vehicle inspections as required, and marks questionable areas for rework/repair when applicable. Access to assemblies by ladders, turnovers, movable step platforms, etc. for process verification.
- Test drives vehicles on test track and obstacles for prescribed mileage and frequency to observe operating characteristics of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, controls, accessories, drive systems, etc. noting compliance to final inspection records (FIR) or applicable documents. May terminate testing if gauges, test panels or instruments, etc. register faults.
- Assure continuity of production by performing quality inspections, random sampling, and other tasks such as lubrication, fluid levels, stowage equipment as required by instruction or specification.
- Designate inspection status of items utilizing documentation methods such as stamps, forms, tags, controlled database entries, etc.
- Keeps work area clean and safe.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior paint inspection experience
- Experiance with Military Specfications
