Tool Install Project Manager

Organization: Semiconductor Manufacturing Expansion & Factory Operations
Reports To: Senior Manager, Facilities – Tool Install
Location: Beaverton, Oregon (primary) | Support Camas, Washington
Travel: ~10%
Level: Individual Contributor (Construction / Capital Projects)

Position Summary

As a Tool Install Project Manager, you will lead the planning and execution of advanced semiconductor equipment installations that enable factory expansion, technology node transitions, and capacity growth.

This role is critical to delivering multimillion-dollar capital projects that directly impact manufacturing output, product ramp schedules, and long-term business success.

You will partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, facilities, and external contractors to safely deliver world-class manufacturing capability—ensuring excellence in safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational readiness.

What You’ll Do

End-to-End Project Leadership

  • Lead semiconductor tool installation projects from concept through production handoff

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources across the full lifecycle

  • Develop and maintain integrated schedules, critical path analyses, and forecasts

  • Monitor project performance, spend, and risk to ensure successful delivery

Tool Installation & Factory Readiness

  • Oversee installation of advanced semiconductor equipment (e.g., lithography, etch, deposition, CMP, metrology, implant, wet processing, packaging, sub-fab systems)

  • Ensure cleanroom and bay readiness, utilities availability, and successful system hook-up

  • Coordinate installation sequencing and resource planning across multiple concurrent projects

Cross-Functional & Contractor Leadership

  • Partner with construction, facilities, manufacturing, process and equipment engineering teams, and vendors

  • Lead contractor selection, bid evaluations, and contract execution

  • Manage contractor performance, productivity, and compliance

Safety & Risk Management

  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all activities

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols including LOTO, chemical safety, high-voltage work, and rigging

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain, construction delays, utilities, and design changes

Operational Impact & Continuous Improvement

  • Support factory startups, expansions, and technology conversions

  • Enable production continuity, ramp schedules, and capacity targets

  • Capture lessons learned and drive best-known methods (BKMs) across sites

  • Manage multiple concurrent capital projects, often in the multimillion-dollar range

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field

  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, facilities, tool installation, or capital project management

  • Proven experience managing scope, schedule, cost, contractors, and cross-functional teams

  • Familiarity with semiconductor cleanroom environments and manufacturing equipment

  • Strong knowledge of project controls, risk management, and tools such as Microsoft Project

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business

  • PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma certification

  • Experience in wafer fabrication facilities and tool install management

  • Greenfield fab startup or large-scale expansion experience

  • Track record leading capital projects exceeding $10M

  • Exposure to advanced semiconductor process technologies or global project leadership

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $75,200 to $103,400.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors 

  • This position includes medical, vision and dental coverage, 401k, paid vacation, holidays, and sick time, and other benefits.  

  • Benefits for the position includes 10 paid holidays per year, paid vacation starting at 136 hours per year for full-time employees (prorated for part-time employees), and paid sick time that exceeds the requirements of the Washington State Sick Leave law.
