Senior Field Applications Engineer
About the Role
As a Senior Field Applications Engineer at ADI, you will provide advanced technical expertise to support customers throughout their entire product development lifecycle. You'll serve as a key technical liaison between customers and internal ADI teams, driving design wins and revenue growth through expert technical engagement. Your ability to analyze complex customer requirements, develop innovative solutions, and provide timely technical support will be instrumental in strengthening ADI's market position and customer relationships. This role requires both technical depth and leadership capabilities as you'll mentor junior team members while solving sophisticated application challenges.

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Consultation: Provide expert-level technical support to customers across the entire product development cycle, from concept through production
- Solution Architecture: Analyze complex customer requirements and architect optimal solutions utilizing ADI's product portfolio
- Reference Design Development: Create comprehensive reference designs, evaluation boards, and demonstration systems that showcase ADI technology advantages
- Technical Documentation: Develop high-quality application notes, design guides, and technical documentation that accelerate customer implementations
- Problem Resolution: Debug challenging customer issues and deliver timely technical solutions that maintain project momentum
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Interface effectively between customers and internal ADI teams (design, product, test engineering) to ensure customer success
- Technical Leadership: Mentor junior FAEs and share technical knowledge across teams to elevate capabilities
- Prototype Development: Create and deliver sophisticated rapid prototypes and tailored demos that validate product feasibility for strategic customers
- Custom Solution Design: Design and develop specialized technical solutions that precisely meet specific customer requirements and business needs
- System Integration: Design and integrate ADI products into complex customer systems, optimizing performance and functionality
- Technical Presentations: Deliver compelling technical presentations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels
Must Have Skills
- Product Demonstration and Prototyping: Advanced ability to create sophisticated prototypes and deliver compelling product demonstrations that effectively showcase complex solutions to customers
- Solution Development and Customization: Expert capability in designing and customizing technical solutions to address challenging customer requirements and use cases
- Technical Consultation: Strong proficiency in assessing complex customer needs, identifying optimal solutions, and providing authoritative technical guidance throughout the sales process
- Product Capability Validation: Advanced ability to thoroughly test and validate product capabilities against demanding customer requirements, ensuring solutions meet or exceed performance specifications
- System Design and Integration: Comprehensive knowledge of system design principles and experience integrating products into sophisticated customer systems with attention to overall system performance
- Technical Presentation: Superior skills in communicating complex technical concepts clearly to various audiences, adapting presentation style based on technical knowledge level
- Technical Documentation: Demonstrated ability to create detailed, accurate technical documentation including comprehensive application notes, test reports, and solution specifications
- Technical Leadership: Proven capability to mentor junior team members and contribute to elevating team performance through knowledge sharing and best practice development
- Language Skills: Business-level English with Advanced business - Fluent level Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N1 or equivalent)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 5-7 years of relevant technical experience in semiconductor applications or related field
- Previous experience as an FAE or in a similar customer-facing technical role
- Deep understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuit design
- Experience with digital design, embedded systems, and industry standard protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
- Programming proficiency in C/C++, Python, or similar languages
- Experience with PCB design and layout
- Background in power management, data converters, or RF systems
- Willingness to travel up to 25% to support customer engagements
