Millimeter Wave IC Design Engineer (Staff Engineer) will design Beamforming Integrated Circuits at Millimeter Wave frequencies. This will include reviewing specification requirements; envisioning suitable design architecture, doing trade-off studies and comparative analysis to finalize the IC architecture; and working with a team of design, layout and verification engineers to complete the IC design. Further design responsibilities will include designing IP blocks such as Time Delay Unit, Phase Shifter, Digital Step Attenuator, Amplifiers and other building blocks at these frequencies. The design team that you will work with develops high performance beamformer ICs for commercial, military, and satellite applications. The position requires design and analytical skills and proficiency with CAD modeling tools applicable to active and passive IC design, such as Cadence, and Spectre RF, ADS, Momentum, HFSS etc.
The candidate will contribute in one of more of the following areas:
- Work in collaboration with a team of design, layout and verifications engineers to design Beamforming ICs.
- Design an RF or Millimeter Wave sub-block such as time delay unit, phase shifter, amplifier, digital step attenuator and other active and passive circuit blocks to be used in a Beamforming IC.
- Extract cell level layout parasitics and optimize the design and layout including parasitic effects to meet circuit performance goals.
- Electromagnetic modeling of passive on-chip components or package transition modeling, as well as potentially PCB design to evaluate existing mmWave ICs.
- Understand the design trade-offs for your given design project and look for opportunities to innovate in addressing key performance metrices.
- Present your work to the team during design reviews and other technical discussions
- Mentor junior members of the team
- Engage with other members of the IC development team, such as Design Evaluation, Product and Test, Qualification, Assembly engineering and Manufacturing teams.
