Instrumentation Systems Design Engineer

The Instrumentation System Solutions team is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative engineer to architect next‑generation instrumentation solutions across a wide range of high‑speed electronic test, measurement, and automated test equipment applications. In this role, you will define, prototype, and demonstrate advanced instrumentation architectures using cutting‑edge technologies from Analog Devices’ diverse product portfolio.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and work directly with customers to translate complex system‑level challenges into elegant, high‑performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, characterize, and document innovative proof‑of‑concept systems for high‑speed test and measurement applications.
  • Perform RF/mmWave signal‑chain analysis, system‑level modeling, and performance evaluation for semiconductor device and subsystem testing.
  • Develop technical collateral—including application notes, reference designs, articles, and tradeshow demonstrations—that highlight instrument‑grade performance using ADI products.
  • Solve customer problems by delivering validated system‑level solutions, supported by detailed modeling and hands‑on measurements in a state‑of‑the‑art lab.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between customers, marketing, design, and product development teams to convert system‑level requirements into component‑level specifications for current and future ADI products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science with 10+ years of experience, or MS or PhD with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of system‑level application challenges and a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive solutions.
  • Experience with high‑speed, RF, and mmWave system design, including proficiency with tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Keysight ADS, and SystemVue.
  • Deep knowledge of analog and high‑speed mixed‑signal design fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated programming experience in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++.
  • Hands‑on experience with test and measurement equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, real‑time oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Familiarity with FPGAs, DSPs, and embedded systems.
