Role Background:

Process Engineers in a 200mm wafer fabrication environment play a critical role in sustaining and improving manufacturing modules. Their work is central to ensuring stable production, reducing variability, and enabling continuous improvement in equipment, materials, and process performance.

Typical Responsibilities include:

  • Developing improvements to manufacturing processes and modifications to production process flows to improve yield, quality, cost, and cycle time

  • Monitoring and reducing process variability through statistical analysis tools such as SPC (Statistical Process Control) and DOE (Design of Experiments).

  • Root cause investigation of discrepant material and implementation of yield improvement programs

  • Collaborating with Equipment Engineering, Yield Engineering, and Quality teams to drive cross-functional problem-solving initiatives for excursionary events and continuous improvement projects.

  • Qualifying newly installed equipment, new raw materials, new consumable parts, and Cross Platform Process Transfers

  • Writing clear technical operating procedures and specifications for large audience to follow

  • Partnering with manufacturing operations to continuously improve factory performance through ease of use improvements for operators

  • Support 24/7 Manufacturing Operations for Lot Disposition or Inhibited Lot Paths

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Or Master's in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.

  • 4+ years of industry microfabrication experience in Plasma Etch and/or Back-end wafer strips

  • Working on-site in Cleanroom environment with On Call 24/7 for remote support and/or in-fab support

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Flexibility around frequent priority shifts in supporting high volume manufacturing needs

  • Experience in Plasma Etching of Dielectric/Conductor films, Resist Plasma Removal, BEOL Solvent Cleans, and/or Wet Etching of Dielectric/Conductors

  • Experience using Inline Metrology (Ellipsometry, Sheet Resistance Probes, SEM), AMAT/LAM/TEL interface experience, and Optical Emission Spectroscopy for Plasma Etching

  • Fundamental understanding of Integrated Circuit manufacturing flow

  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience in performing process window and tool characterization studies for processes developed for New Product Introductions, process transfers across equipment platforms, and continuous improvement activities

  • Experience participating in structured problem-solving frameworks (8D, DMAIC, Fault Tree Analysis)

  • Proficiency with data analytics tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python, or SQL for process performance deep dives

  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills and ability to productively engage with individuals from a range of backgrounds.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently with a high degree of ownership

  • Understanding defect reduction strategies and ability to analyze defect pareto, defect maps, and tool-based signatures

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $95,600 to $131,450.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
