The AMZL Capacity Planning Team provides Ops with solutions for in-station and on-the-road operations, year-round and during seasonal peaks. We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to drive the metrics strategy and data infrastructure for Amazon's Last and First Mile planning activities. This role will define, build, and own the key performance metrics that measure planning effectiveness and map process opportunities. The ideal candidate will independently identify underlying data sources, design new metrics frameworks where none exist, and deliver actionable insights to the overall planning activities. You will partner with Operations, Tech, Science, and Program teams to align on metric definitions, data requirements, and reporting cadences. Strong analytical judgment, deep SQL proficiency, and experience working with large data-sets are essential. This role requires the ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where data definitions and measurement approaches must be built from the ground up.


Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

- Define and own the end-to-end metrics framework for the Last Mile and First Mile, including identifying gaps in existing measurement, creating new metrics, and establishing baselines and targets
- Independently identify, evaluate, and onboard underlying data sources to build a comprehensive data foundation for planning analytics
- Design and build dashboards and reporting mechanisms that provide real-time visibility
- Independently collaborate across cross-functional teams – Operations, Science, Tech, ACES, Program teams – to align on metric definitions, data requirements, and reporting cadences
- Provide data-driven and actionable insights to senior stakeholders to influence roadmaps, prioritize strategies measure effectiveness of actions
- Develop key performance indicators that track progress against business objectives
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify root causes and recommend improvements
- Build scalable, repeatable analytical processes and self-service tools that reduce dependency on ad-hoc analysis and enable the team to make faster, data-informed decisions


About the team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is Amazon's "Last Mile" delivery service, responsible for delivering packages (and smiles) to homes and businesses across the planet. Within AMZL, the Planning team is responsible for planning critical business aspects of the operations such as geographical coverage, volume/capacity planning and weekly execution of the plans. We are focused on planning Amazon's last mile network to reach the best balance between capacity availability, productivity and accuracy.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field
- Knowledge of BI analytics, reporting or visualization tools like Tableau, AWS QuickSight, Cognos or other third-party tools
- Experience with SQL or ETL
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Experience in a business analyst, data analyst or equivalent role

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of Python, VBA, Macros, Selenium scripts
- Experience using databases with a large-scale data set
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
