Amazon operates the world's most complex supply chain — fulfilling global demand for hundreds of millions of products at lighting fast delivery speeds. A core part of making this possible is predicting the future: How much will customers order? How long will new inventory take to arrive? What is the long-term customer impact of changes in availability and delivery speed? And much more. We address these questions through state-of-the-art machine learning systems that generate hundreds of millions of fine-grained predictions. These forecasts are automatically consumed by systems that order, store, and route inventory — ensuring customers find the products they want, when they need them, and delivered faster than ever. Our work spans the full lifecycle: from foundational research and large-scale experimentation to production deployment and downstream impact measurement.
