The International Stores and Corporate Communications team is at the forefront of building and protecting Amazon’s reputation, communicating stories that showcase how Amazon creates a positive impact for customers across Canada through services like Amazon Prime; creates opportunities for employees; invests in the economy; and contributes to local communities across the country.
This role will also support the Amazon Ads business in Canada, leading storytelling about how the business delivers comprehensive full-funnel advertising at scale through AI innovation, extensive streaming reach through Prime Video and Live Sports, and advanced advertising technology that serves businesses ranging from small and medium enterprises to global brands.
As a PR Specialist, you will help manage proactive, positive, earned, external storytelling across Canada. This role supports the team’s proactive public relations plans by building stakeholder relationships; leading earned, paid, social and owned media strategies; planning experiential events; and managing reactive issues.
You must have a strong track record in consumer, corporate, and/or B2B public relations, ideally in an agency setting or in house in a media-facing role, with knowledge of local reporters, content creators, stakeholders, and community leaders and a proven track record of building strong external relationships. Internally, you will work closely with other communications teams in Canada and internationally, as well as Public Policy, Retail, Advertising, and Operations business teams, to manage programs and craft compelling stories for external and internal audiences.
To be successful in this role you will need excellent communications skills, writing ability, initiative, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves. You should have experience delivering results with high standards under tight deadlines, with a track record of creativity and flexibility, ideally in a complex organization.
Key job responsibilities
• Keep a finger on the pulse of industry trends and the evolving media landscape and how to develop new earned, owned, and paid communications approaches that help reach audiences
• Develop and drive communications plans, programs, and content in support of Amazon’s business and corporate reputation
• Establish and foster media relationships by serving as a trusted source and spokesperson representing Amazon
• Provide communications counsel to business leaders
• Manage reputational issues
• Exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow timeframes
• Develop creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges
• Develop creative ideas and new storytelling concepts
• Pay painstaking attention to detail
• Manage a high volume of requests and competing deadlines

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
- Strong written and oral communications skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree- Working fluency in French and English
- Communications experience with internet, technology, retail, advertising and/or transportation companies
- Strong relationships with local and/or national media

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
