Our team is part of the Cloud Security organization. We are responsible for the technologies powering Akamai's security products and protecting some of the world's major internet brands. Working in partnership with other development teams, we design and create highly scalable solutions.

In this role, you'll play a key part in strengthening security products by analyzing data, addressing customer challenges, and driving product improvements. You'll collaborate across teams to implement solutions, enhance detection accuracy, and provide insights that shape strategy and performance.
As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for:
- Analyzing large sets of data to differentiate legitimate and fraud traffic
- Developing and implementing detection rules and models to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the security products.
- Improving processes to collect, manipulate, present, and analyze large datasets in a production-ready environment
- Troubleshooting production issues in a very distributed environment
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have experience working on large datasets using SQL/Spark and Python.
- Have a good understanding of probability, statistics and machine learning algorithms/techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and enjoy troubleshooting to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Practical knowledge of application security products such as bot or fraud detection is a major plus.
- Understand Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL to ensure effective communication and secure connections.
