Our team designs, develops, and manages applications and infrastructure that support Akamai's Compute products and services. We specialize in creating solutions that manage Compute platform, focusing on identity and access management (IAM) solutions. We do this while maintaining Akamai's mission to make life better for billions of people, billions of times a day.
As a participant in our program, you will gain valuable experience and contribute through meaningful project work. You will have the opportunity to join us for training, networking events, and engagements with company leadership. Our internships are open to students and graduates.

In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring smooth operation and up-time of our Compute services and infrastructure. You'll supervise and maintain our critical infrastructure and collaborate with our operations and development teams to create tooling and software that monitors and improves the reliability of our systems. You'll work with various technologies as we release brand new applications and modernize our existing tooling.
As a Site Reliability Intern, you will be responsible for:
- Participating in the design, development, improvement, operation, and automation of AuthZ systems
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and code development
- Contributing to internal research processes, methodologies, and approaches to create and share best practices
- Diagnosing system performance and reliability together with the team of Site Reliability Engineers
- Learning about our distributed systems, products, and technical stack necessary for your role
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be a student in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or another related field
- Build on processes using script languages like Python or Bash and SQL
- Have basic knowledge of monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus
- Use GNU/Linux or Unix operating systems, its commands, services, and configuration
- Understand networking protocols (such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL)
Work in a way that works for you
Our 6-month intern program starts in July. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-December).
This is a flexible role and may be performed at your home and/or the local Akamai office (in the country advertised). We are happy to discuss working options in this role and encourage you to speak with your recruiter in more details when you apply.
